1. Waxed paper cups are coated with a layer of wax on the inner wall of the cheapest cardboard cups to isolate the food or drinking water inside the paper cups from direct contact with the paper containers. Now they are generally used as cold drink cups.
Someone once said that "waxed paper cups cannot hold hot drinks, because the wax layer on the surface will melt and mix into the food, affecting health."
This statement is actually not accurate. First of all, it should be clear that the wax layer coated on the inside of the regular and qualified cheapest cardboard cups is edible wax, which is non-toxic and insoluble in water.
However, edible wax does have a lower melting point and is relatively stable between 0° - 5°. But even in hot water, edible wax is ingested into the body in a small amount, so as long as it is not used frequently, there is no need to panic.
Therefore, the biggest safety hazard when using cheapest cardboard cups (cold drink cups) to hold hot drinks is that when the wax layer gradually melts, the cup body softens and deforms after contacting with water, and the spilled water may burn yourself.
2. The cheapest cardboard cup is to cover the inner wall of the paper cup with a layer of coating (PE), which is very smooth and can play the role of waterproof and oil proof. PE is polyethylene, and polyethylene is the safest chemical in food processing, which is what we often call plastic.
