Polylactic acid (PLA) is one of the main members in the biopolymer industry.
Different from traditional petrochemical materials, such as PE, PP, PVC, ABS and PET, poly (lactic acid) materials have two major characteristics: biomass source (bio-base) and biodegradation.Polylactic acid comes from renewable resources, such as cassava, corn, sugar cane and other plants, which are fermented into lactic acid and further polymerized.At the same time, polylactic acid macromolecule can be completely decomposed into water and carbon dioxide under the condition of compost, thus reducing the pollution of petroleum based material waste to the environment.
Poly (lactic acid) materials are safe for food and human contact.
